A jewel in the Dolomites: The Parkhotel Mondschein

If you ask us which part of the Alps is our favorite, the decision probably falls on the southern part – where palm trees meet mountains and espresso is an essential part of every meal.

The Parkhotel Mondschein is nestled in this impressive setting in South Tyrol, where the Dolomites tower like royal guardians and Alpine culture merges with the Mediterranean lifestyle. A hotel that is not only a place of tranquillity, but also brings stories of classic elegance, warm hospitality and contemporary comfort to life.

Historical heritage meets modern lightness

The Parkhotel Mondschein looks back on a long and eventful history. Once a meeting place for writers and artists, the hotel has retained its historical charm without remaining stuck in the past. A gentle renovation has preserved the essence of the building while adding a contemporary touch. High ceilings, original wooden floors and stylish details create an atmosphere that is both elegant and inviting. At the same time, light-flooded lounges, artfully decorated lounges and a carefully curated collection of regional artworks invite you to discover every corner of the hotel. The interior skillfully combines traditional craftsmanship with modern design elements, reflecting the hotel’s vibrant history and creative soul.

The impressive building, which was built in 1320 as the first inn in Bolzano, is now a listed building. Its iconic white shutters and elegant stucco decorations make it a real eye-catcher. Extensions in the Belle Époque style from 1890 complement the historic character and create a special architectural experience that delights guests with wide corridors, high ceilings and ornate stucco details.

After extensive renovations in May 2022, the Parkhotel Mondschein shines in new splendor. A harmonious overall concept was created that captures the charm of the early 1960s and is reminiscent of cinematic moments from the golden age of Italian film. High-quality materials, warm lighting and midcentury accents lend the rooms a nostalgic yet modern atmosphere. With 76 rooms of different sizes – from cozy petite rooms to spacious suites – the hotel offers space for every requirement.

The colour palette of soft greens, greys and browns harmonizes with the mountain world of the Dolomites and creates a pleasant ambience. The original herringbone parquet flooring has been carefully preserved, while the bathrooms have been redesigned with simple elegance in white and silver.

But the real heart of the Parkhotel is its garden. This green haven, framed by old trees and colorful flowerbeds, invites you to unwind. In the morning, enjoy a coffee outside while the first rays of sunshine kiss the Dolomites. In the evening, the garden is transformed into a magical place, illuminated by lanterns and filled with the scent of flowering plants. A paradise for romantics and nature lovers alike. After a day full of discoveries – be it a hike in the mountains, a trip to the charming old town of Bolzano or a bike tour along the vineyards – the spa area of the Parkhotel offers the perfect opportunity to relax. A sauna with panoramic views, soothing massages and an indoor pool ensure relaxation at the highest level.

The hotel’s own restaurant brings the diversity of South Tyrolean cuisine to the plate. Alpine ingredients such as mountain herbs and game meet Mediterranean classics such as olive oil and fresh tomatoes. The creative chef relies on regional suppliers and seasonal products to create authentic taste experiences. All of this is accompanied by an exquisite wine list, which naturally includes the best wines from the region.

Conclusion: A place that stays

The Parkhotel Mondschein is more than just a hotel – it is a place where time seems to flow more slowly, where every corner tells a story and where guests are more than welcome. Anyone who has ever stayed here will understand why this hotel holds a special place in the hearts of its visitors.
